Now you can keep up with how the business is moving and what I am creating through out the day. Check it out at http://twitter.com/anglincrafts . I have been working hard on this Mothers Day creating a new skirt. I am thinking about calling the line "Rain Drops on Roses" after the song in the Sound Of Music when Julie Andrews gets the idea to make the curtains into playclothes. That seems to be my whole way of doing business anyway. Creating from old and giving it a repurposed life. I will have pictures of the finised product on Etsy. http://arastitches.etsy.com/

Come see us at the Salem Saturday Market on Saturday May 16th!

Salem Saturday Market Days

We are officially back at the Salem Saturday Market! He eats like crazy and his older brother loves him! They are so cute together.

I will start working on new stuff for Etsy as well as the Saturday Market and our new online venue with Corvallis Artisans Market this week. It just so happens to be my favorite holiday. I say what better way to spend a day than thinking about love. It has never been a consumer craze for me but more of a handmade, show all the people you love in your life how much you care for them. Because Andrew and I are on a serious budget we are just spending the day together as a family. I made him a valentine and we will go to the good chocolate store and spend a few bucks on chocolates we both will enjoy. A beautiful day, spent with the people I love, and we get a treat on top of it! Sounds wonderful.

I only made one item for Valentines Day on Etsy and it is called the Secret Heart Corset Coffee Cozy. I had a lot of fun creating that little sustainable project. All it took was a couple hours, an old wool sweater, some scrap fabrics and an idea. I think it turned out very nice...and its useful! It looks like the heart is sewn all the way around, but in fact I left a bit of it undone so there is a secret pocket behind the heart. Perfect for money or a secret admirer's message. Check it out and my other things I have for sale on Etsy!

New Year, New Projects

I am now working with some other mediums that I can recycle. We will be selling in the Salem Saturday Market from May through October as well as some other markets through out the summer. It will be more challenging to create a stock of inventory after the baby arrives, so I am trying to get a good stock to sell at the markets before then. As usual we will be selling recycled, reversible bags, coffee cup cozys, quilts, lavender flax pillows and pens. I am working on a a few new designs for things like clothing, hip pouches, scarves and belts, all made from recycled/upcycled fabrics. I think this season will be one of the best and I am giving a preview of most of my work on Etsy.

Getting Yarn Crazy

My mom got me started on buying really nice yarns to knit and crochet with...now I am hooked! I have been going a little crazy finding/buying amazing blends of fiber. I found everything from wool to silk and everything in between. I am currently crocheting a red and black scarf for myself made from silk and bamboo...ohhhh it feels like butter! I have made socks, scarves, gloves, hats, granny squares and much more but never anything for myself...so this scarf is finally for me.

Once I put some finishing personal touches on this scarf I will post a picture.

Supporting Local Business/Artists

I am getting ready to walk around to all my local coffee shops and see if I can sell my awesome coffee cozys in their shops. The cozys are great and all one of a kind. I use scrap fabrics left over from my recycled bags to make these reversible beauties. They are serged all the way around to give a funky look and have a heat reflective batting in them to keep those digits cool.

I sold over 100 cozys this holiday season (hopefully that means 100 people will stop using those disposable paper jackets) and think there might be a little business in it for me if I can just convince some shops to support a local artist.

Of course I have a few of them listed on arastitches.etsy.com. Check them out if your interested!

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog. I am starting this blog to keep our adoring fans in the know about our crafts and family.

I am trying to sell on Etsy.com through my store arastitches.etsy.com. I have been posting new things everyday and brainstorming new ideas for the store and the local markets I am involved in. Come see us at the Salem Saturday Market from May-October in downtown Salem, Oregon. We had a lot of fun this past summer selling at the market and can't wait for it to start up again.

Thanks for visiting...check back often as I will be posting as often as I can!
